This is probably the least-likely vehicle you'd expect to see at Lime Rock Park: A jacked-up off-road pickup truck with 35-inch tires, designed to punish rocks and clamber up dunes. But when Ram told us they were putting a 702-horsepower supercharged V-8 in a pickup truck , we knew we had to invite it to our 2021 Performance Car of the Year testing.
Perhaps not surprisingly, Lime Rock Park wasn't quite the ideal venue to showcase the TRX's strengths. Driver Travis Okulski managed just one lap in the big, burly pickup truck before the brakes got overcooked—watch to the end, and you'll see that Travis had to go into the runoff at the end of the straightaway. That's how hot the brakes got.
In the end, the TRX notched a 1:16.78 lap time around Lime Rock. Certainly not the fastest competitor at our 2021 PCOTY testing. But it was definitely the most unexpected entrant.
